Academics

We provide a hybrid curriculum at the Primary Level, integrating elements from the British Curriculum with the Ghanaian curriculum to address local learning needs while adhering to global standards.

DEPARTMENTS

Welcome to the Preschool department

Our aim is to develop the whole personality of each child, by giving basic training that will prepare the child adequately for life – i.e. academically, physically, socially and emotionally.

OUR BELIEFS:

We believe that:

  • Children have an inborn curiosity and desire to learn.
  • Children have the natural ability to grow and develop in a relatively free environment.
  • Children learn through doing.

OUR TEACHING METHODS:

The medium of instruction is English. We use an adapted Montessori approach

Preschool caters to children between the ages of 3 months and 6 years. Our classes comprise the following;

  • Babies (creche) – below 1 year old
  • Tiny Tots (pre-nursery) 1 to 2 years
  • Nightingales (nursery one) 2 – 3 year olds
  • Bluebirds (nursery two) 3 – 4 year olds
  • Sparrows (kindergarten one) 4 – 5 year olds
  • Robins (kindergarten two) 5 – 6 year olds

Elements from the British curriculum are blended with the Ghanaian curriculum to meet local learning needs and meet global standards.  Subjects offered are Mathematics, Literacy, Science, Computing, Religious and Moral Education, History, Ghanaian Language, French, Creative Arts and Reasoning skills

Field trips and other Co-curricular activities e.g. Competitions, Wildlife, Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, Interact, Writers, Taekwondo, Ballet, Camera editing and Dance clubs enhance learning and keep the children motivated.  The Good News Club meets once every month.

The JHS department consists of Years 7, 8 and 9. The JHS curriculum is strictly the Ghanaian curriculum, preparing students for the BECE examination

At Mother’s Nest School, children come first and we partner families to develop enthusiastic world citizens.
